Linger Golden Light

19 November 1984 – 28 February 1985

This was the second Institute exhibition devoted to Swiss artist Lotte Günthart (1914–2007). The first was a retrospective exhibition, Lotte Günthart Paintings, Drawings and Prints, held in 1970. This one included 50 paintings and drawings of floral subjects. Günthart, best known for her paintings of roses, spent one year in Paris as a pupil of the well-known Fernand Léger (1881–1955). Her works were produced in numerous calendars, diaries, books of poetry and in Goor's The History of the Rose in the Holy Land throughout the Ages (1981), the Institute's exhibition catalogue titled Water Colors & Drawings by Lotte Günthart (1970) and in Günthart's own A McCall's Portfolio of Great American Roses (1961) and The Glory of the Rose (1965). A catalogue and poster accompanied the exhibition.
